I remember when I was a teenager, the school I attended allowed students to send roses to their Valentine or secret crushes. Many times I have seen teenagers choose the wrong color rose and actually ended up sending the wrong message. Here is a quick guide to rose colors and their meanings:
The Black Rose:
There are some students who enjoy the Gothic or vampire lifestyle, etc. and tend to give black roses to their secret Valentines. A black rose symbolizes death and bad thoughts like revenge or jealous feelings. Unless you know for sure the other person will understand your meaning behind the black rose, it, along with grey and dark purple, should be avoided at all cost. Death isn’t exactly a great message to send.
The White Rose:
The white rose can symbolize a strict platonic relationships or it could be thought as an invitation of marriage. Probably not the mix message teens want to send to each other. The white rose is considered to be rare and can be expensive to buy.
The Yellow Rose:
The yellow rose can be the ideal rose to give especially if the young couple is just started dating. It can also be used to express interest. The yellow rose is a great flower to give if you’re playing secret cupid. The yellow rose symbolizes committed friendship.
The Pink Rose:
A pink rose represents the expressions of sweet grace and elegance. It is commonly used when a guy have been dating a girl for some time. It can also be considered as a compliment to the girl whose involved in ballet and other fine arts. The lighter the pink rose is the better. The lighter the shade represents the relationship and its connection.
The Red Rose:
Teens are known to give this particular color rose on Valentine’s Day despite its meaning. The red rose symbolizes true love and desire. Usually only adults give red roses to each other especially married ones or those who have been in a long term relationship.
Mixed Colored Roses:
Mixed colored roses, such as a red and white rose, have separate meanings. It is important for teens to know which colored rose is appropriate to give out so that the meanings don’t get misunderstood.
